Risk warning: CFDs and leveraged forex are complex instruments and carry a high risk of losing money rapidly. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you can afford to take that risk.

About us and our editorial policy

Brokerage Reviews compares forex and CFD brokers for UK traders. We review 22 brokers, explain their costs, regulation and platforms in plain English, and rank them against a published methodology.

Not financial advice. Our rankings and reviews are for general information only and are not a recommendation to open an account or to trade. Forex and CFDs are high-risk; consider independent advice and whether you can afford to lose your money.

Who's behind the site

Adrian Rochester

Adrian RochesterFounder and editor

Adrian Rochester is the founder and editor of Brokerage Reviews.

Adrian researches and writes every broker review and guide on the site, checking each broker's costs, regulation, platforms and account terms against the broker's own website and the FCA register, and re-checking them regularly as brokers change their prices and terms.

Editorial independence

Our reviews, scores and rankings are our own. Brokers can't pay to be reviewed, to change a score or to move up a ranking, and we don't let brokers or partners edit our reviews.

  • Every broker is scored on the same five weighted categories, and the overall score is calculated from them. Rankings follow the scores.
  • Our ranked guides and top picks only include brokers authorised by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (14 of the brokers we cover). We still review others, and say clearly when a broker isn't FCA-authorised.
  • Where a broker publishes the percentage of retail accounts that lose money, we show it next to every link to that broker.
  • Anything commercial, such as a featured placement or partner content, is labelled where it appears.

How we make money

The site is free to use. We earn money in two ways:

  • Affiliate commission. Some "Open account" and "Visit" links are affiliate links. If you open an account through one, the broker may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra and doesn't change our scores. Affiliate links are marked as sponsored in our page code.
  • Featured partner placements. A broker can be shown in a labelled "Featured partner" box. The box is kept separate from our rankings and never changes a score.

Brokers we don't earn anything from are reviewed, scored and ranked in the same way as those we do.

Partners and partner content

We currently have a commercial relationship with FxPro:

  • FxPro appears in a box labelled Featured partner at the top of our homepage and guides. That box sits outside our rankings and shows FxPro's real score and position.
  • Our Market News page includes partner content written by FxPro. Every partner post is labelled as such, says it is not our view, and is not a recommendation to trade.

FxPro has no say over its review, its score or where it ranks. It is reviewed and scored in exactly the same way as every other broker.

How we research brokers

  • We check each broker's figures (spreads, commissions, minimum deposits, leverage, platforms and fees) on the broker's own website, and its UK authorisation on the FCA register.
  • Every review lists its sources and the date the figures were checked.
  • Where a broker's website blocks automated checks, we use its official pages found through search, and say so in our notes.
  • Brokers change their prices and terms often, so always confirm the details on the broker's website before you open an account.

How we rate brokers

Each broker gets a score from 1 to 5 in five categories. The overall score is a weighted average:

  • Fees & costs (30%): Spreads, commissions, swaps and non-trading fees such as inactivity and withdrawal charges.
  • Trust & regulation (25%): Number and quality of licences, track record, listed status and client-fund protections.
  • Platforms & tools (20%): Platform choice, charting, execution quality, mobile apps and automated trading support.
  • Research & education (15%): Market analysis, tutorials, webinars and tools that help traders improve.
  • Customer support (10%): Availability, speed and quality of help via live chat, phone and email.

See the full methodology on our homepage.

Market news

Our Market News page publishes official US economic data (from the Federal Reserve, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Bureau of Economic Analysis), with a link to each original release. It also includes clearly labelled partner content. We don't publish trading signals, price forecasts of our own, or recommendations to buy or sell anything.

Contact us and corrections

Email us at support@brokeragereviews.net.

We work hard to keep every figure accurate, but brokers change their prices and terms often. If you spot something that's wrong or out of date, please email us with a link to the page and we'll check it and correct it. Brokers can contact us to point out factual errors in their review; we'll verify any correction against the broker's own website, but we don't change scores or rankings on request.

We can't give personal financial advice or help with individual accounts at a broker; please contact the broker directly for that.

Risk warning

CFDs, spread bets and leveraged forex are complex instruments and carry a high risk of losing money rapidly because of leverage. Most retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. Consider whether you understand how these products work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Nothing on this site is financial, investment or trading advice. If you're unsure, speak to an independent financial adviser.
